Who is in charge here?

Proverbs 8:14-16
There is a profound statement in this scripture. God says "power is mine." I know right now we are overwhelmed by the political climate. We are unsure of what lies ahead. But we can be comforted to know that we can find counsel, sound wisdom, and understanding in God. He has the power.
Many of us need to rely on this verse right now “By me kings reign and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule and nobles. All who judge rightly.” Proverbs 8:15-16
God alone is in charge. None of what is happening in our world is a surprise to Him. We can gripe and groan and be upset, but He is still in control.
We are told that our job is to pray and obey God. We may not agree with the policies they represent, but ultimately God is in charge. Some of us consider the government an enemy. In that case, we pray all the more as Jesus tells us to do in Matthew 5 and Luke 6.
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. day where we celebrate his birthday. Many of us have the day off from school or work, and we've been encouraged to remember his legacy and how he stood up to injustice. I took some time thing morning to re-read his letter from a Birmingham jail. He was calling the clergy to stand up for what is right. He laid out the reasons for civil but peaceful disobedience. He also pointed out that he was being criticized by these clergy for the peaceful protests he was leading. This Godly man was standing up against "laws" that were unjust. The laws were taking personhood from someone because of the color of their skin. We revere Martin Luther King, Jr. because he was an anointed leader who stood up for what was right. He did not consider it too much to give up his life while serving his God. It is also our job to stand up for truth.
The sacrifice made by Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds me of Daniel. He was taken to a foreign land as was God’s plan, but he remained faithful to God. He had vegetables and water for his meals because that was as close to the Jewish diet he could get. Instead of wasting away, God blessed him, and he flourished.
The decree was made that all people were to bow down to the king and not pray to any other God. This was a TRAP. Daniel did what was right. He was wise to do so. This landed him in the fiery furnace. But God saved him.
Daniel served the kings up unto the point where they contradicted God's law, and God rewarded him for that.
I'm also reminded of Esther and Mordecai in the book of Esther. They both served a king who did not know God. In their wisdom in seeking out God on their own, they were able to influence the king in positive ways. God was in charge, and they allowed Him to use them.
God could decide to wipe America out just as He did Israel in the Old Testament. It is all according to His will and power, not ours.
God is in charge and no one else. We are to pray for our leaders and follow the law, but when the law cross the line and contradict God's law, then it is time to follow God alone. God will reward us whether it be by performing a miracle to save our life here on earth or allowing us to join Him in Heaven. We have to know the truth, though. This is why I write. This is why I record videos and podcasts. I want you to access the truth for yourself. I want you to have a hunger and thirst for God's word that will help you to discern what is true. I want you to have a relationship with Jesus that guides and directs you as you grapple with the hard things.
