When You Are Lonely

Our lesson last night at Vacation Bible School for elementary children struck a nerve for me. The lesson was all about when you are lonely, God is with you. How true a lesson that is!
I cannot tell you, though, how often loneliness is part of my life. That feeling that I never fit in. The vulnerability that I am just a face in the crowd. The times when it feels like even God has abandoned me. That feeling that no one cares.
I am reminded of Job when I am lonely. How devastating for him to lose everything, even his health! In the midst of all of it, though, God was still with him.
Maybe this is a time in your life when you feel as though God is absent. He isn't. You can lean on Him even when everything around you feels like it is crumbling. Talk to Him. Cry out to Him. Sing to Him. Pray to Him. Seek Him out in the beauty He created. Seek Him out in your anguish. He will be there!
Read through the book of Job if you need some reassurance that God truly is present even in times of trouble and loneliness!
